Viking Octantis, launched in 2022, is a purpose-built expedition ship designed to bring Viking’s celebrated comfort to the world’s most remote corners. At 30,105 gross tons and 205 meters in length across six decks, it carries up to 378 guests with a dedicated crew of 260, delivering intimate service in even the most rugged environments. The ship blends Nordic elegance with expedition-grade practicality: a reinforced hull for icy waters, a fleet of Zodiacs and kayaks ready for up-close shore landings, and the Explorer Center where science, history, and local culture come alive through daily briefings and immersive programs. Onboard you’ll savor multiple dining venues showcasing locally inspired cuisine, unwind in the spa and fitness center, take a dip in the indoor pool, and enjoy panoramic views from the Observation Lounge and Panorama Bar. During shore excursions, experienced naturalists and local experts lead you to glaciers, fjords, wetlands, and wildlife encounters; at sea, enrichment lectures, hands-on workshops, and stargazing sessions deepen every destination. With the comfort and elegance Viking is known for, Viking Octantis turns remote exploration into a seamless, immersive experience—though please note EU 2-pin 220V outlets require your own adapters, as adapters are not provided.

Shore Excursions
Viking offers a variety of excursions, virtually all included in your cruise fare, from RIB sailings and zodiac landings to tranquil kayak outings and underwater submarine dives. Hike through magnificent landscapes and access remote areas, all led by an experienced team of experts skilled in operating in rugged and polar environments. Or try a unique experience with one of our exclusive, limited-capacity optional excursions.
Encounter some of nature’s most fascinating wildlife north of the Arctic Circle, from polar bears to walruses, whales, ringed seals and Svalbard reindeer. In Antarctica, guests are likely to see seals and whales, as well as a variety of penguin and migratory bird species. The Great Lakes also house abundant wildlife diversity: moose, black bears, beavers, grey wolves, bald eagles, and a wide range of bird species can be commonly found.
