Delivered in May 2019, M/V Hondius holds distinction as the first passenger ship registered with Polar Class 6 certification, enabling operations in challenging ice conditions while setting new environmental standards with LED lighting, biodegradable lubricants, and state-of-the-art power management.
The ship features the Observation Lounge with panoramic 270-degree views through floor-to-ceiling glass, a separate Lecture Room for multilingual presentations, and a well-stocked Library with polar-themed literature. The single Restaurant/Dining Room accommodates all passengers with unreserved seating.
Hondius carries a fleet of rigid-hull Zodiac inflatable boats deployed via two gangways and a sheltered indoor embarkation platform. Kayaking equipment and polar plunge facilities are standard. Advanced stabilizers ensure passenger comfort in Southern Ocean swells.
